Learn how to recruit the Wizard Gale in Baldur's Gate 3. Discover the steps to revive him if you choose to fight and kill him, including the flute puzzle.
Walkthrough
- 1Recruiting Gale: Head to the Roadside Cliffs waypoint (coordinates x=222, y=323), north of the Nautiloid crash site. Look for a swirling purple energy vortex on the rocks.
- 2Interact with the Arcane Sigil Circle and choose to Touch the sigil.
- 3Opt to help Gale pass through the portal. You may need to pass a [Strength 7] check or a class-related check.
- 4After Gale is freed, agree to team up with him to recruit him as a Wizard companion.
- 5Killing and Reviving Gale: If you choose to fight Gale after freeing him (select You don’t trust this man. Draw your weapon. then Attack.), he will die.
- 6His corpse will emit a necrotic aura. Loot Gale’s Pouch from his body (you will take necrosis damage).
- 7Open Gale's Pouch by picking the option Pull the purple thread in a counter clockwise fashion. If done incorrectly, the pouch will vanish.
- 8Inside the pouch, you will find a Scroll and a Flute.
- 9Read the Scroll to find the letters A, D, D, E in the corners, indicating the notes to play.
- 10Put the Flute in your instrument slot and select Position your fingers on the flute, ready to play individual notes.
- 11Play the notes D-E-A-D.
- 12A Magma Mephit will appear. Respond with ”K’ha’ssji’trach’ash” and hand over Gale’s letter.
- 13The mephit will give you a Scroll of True Resurrection.
- 14Use the Scroll of True Resurrection on Gale to revive him.
Tips
- Gale has low Armor Class and 8 Hit Points when fought.
- The Scroll of True Resurrection is worth 100 gold if sold.
- You can attack and kill Gale again after reviving him, but there is no puzzle to bring him back the second time.
