Tips
- Surprise Attack: If a party member succeeds on a perception roll, you can initiate a surprise round by attacking a mirror image before they attack you. Use the same character to attack their corresponding mirror image to avoid the 'Cheater's Folly' curse.
- Cheater's Folly Curse: Attacking a mirror enemy that is not your own character's counterpart inflicts the 'Cheater's Folly' curse, reducing abilities by 1 until a long rest. This curse can stack up to four times.
- Mirror Image Abilities: Mirror images cannot be shoved, pushed, or thrown due to their Amorphous Passive Feature. They can also become invisible when obscured by shadows.
- Countering Invisibility and Weakness: Use light spells like 'Daylight' to prevent mirror images from turning invisible and to exploit their Sunlight Weakness, giving them disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws.
- Combat Analysis: The trial is a good opportunity to observe how the AI uses your characters' abilities and spells, potentially reminding you of unused skills or encouraging experimentation with new tactics.
- Exploiting the Fight (Optional): One strategy suggests entering the trial with only Shadowheart, closing the door, and attempting a DC20 lockpick to bring the rest of the party in. This would result in fighting only Shadowheart's mirror image with your full party's strength.
- Umbral Gem (dropped by the last defeated mirror image).
