Discover the secrets of the Cave of Origin in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire! Learn about encounters, legendary Pokémon, and how to proceed through this crucial area.

Alright, so you've made it to the Cave of Origin! This place is pretty important, and you'll encounter some unique Pokémon here, including the legendary that's central to your version of the story. Let's get through it!

Pokémon Encounters:

  • Golbat (Poison/Flying) - 69%
  • Mawhile (Steel/Fairy) - 31% (Omega Ruby exclusive)
  • Sableye (Ghost/Dark) - 31% (Alpha Sapphire exclusive)
  • Zubat (Poison/Flying) - 100% in Hordes

As for the Pokémon evaluations, Mawile is noted for its Mega Evolution with the Huge Power ability, and Sableye is known for its Prankster ability, often used with Swagger and Foul Play. You might already have the Mawilite for Mawile's Mega Evolution.

Walkthrough:

1F: Just follow the path forward into the next section of the cave. Once you're there, head towards the northeast side of the area and then make your way down.

B1F: In this area, head southeast. You can use your Dowsing Machine here to find a Revive. After that, just keep going down to the next area.

B2F and B3F: These floors are pretty straightforward – it's a linear path. Just keep moving forward. You'll notice the earthquakes getting stronger as you go deeper.

B4F: Head northwest in this area. You'll find the Aqua Suit (in Omega Ruby) or Magma Suit (in Alpha Sapphire), and you'll also get the Blue Orb (Omega Ruby) or Red Orb (Alpha Sapphire). Shortly after, the legendary Pokémon, Kyogre (Alpha Sapphire) or Groudon (Omega Ruby), will appear. Archie (in Alpha Sapphire) or Maxie (in Omega Ruby) will tell you to jump onto its back. Yeah, it's wild!

You'll then ride Kyogre/Groudon into Hoenn's Core. Your PokéNav Plus might even act up due to the intense radiation. It's a good idea to save your game right away. Then, head northeast towards Kyogre/Groudon. Get as close as you can and press the A button to start the battle!

Legendary Pokémon Battle:

Primal GroudonGround/FireDesolate LandOR
Primal KyogreWaterPrimordial SeaAS

You can rebattle these legendaries later, after the Elite Four, so having one now will give you a big advantage. The capture process is pretty standard. If you're having trouble, the Master Ball is always an option, though it's best saved for something trickier. Your best bet is to inflict either Paralysis or Sleep on the legendary.

Sleep can be effective for both, but Paralysis might be harder to land on Primal Groudon. Once you've inflicted a status condition, try using low-power moves that the Pokémon resists, or even better, use False Swipe. This move guarantees the target won't faint, making it easier to wear them down. Remember, you can also use Poison or Burn, but be careful as they can KO the Pokémon if you're not quick enough with your capture attempts. The general strategy is: lower HP or inflict status, then use Ultra Balls.
