Master the Battle Institute in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire! Learn about Flat Battles, banned Pokémon and items, team requirements, scoring, and rewards.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Locate the Battle Institute in the northeastern portion of Mauville City's 1F.
  2. 2
Speak with the receptionist to choose your team. You will need three Pokémon for Single Battles and four for Double Battles.
  3. 3
Engage in five successive Trainer battles. Winning or losing is not critical, as you will proceed to the next battle regardless.
  4. 4
Your score is determined by the number of Pokémon you defeat, the number of your Pokémon defeated, the ease of your victories, and how well you counter opponent tactics.
  5. 5
After completing the battles, you will receive a certificate detailing your rank, test type, and score.
  6. 6
You will also receive items and Battle Points (BP), which increase in quantity and quality with higher scores.
Tips
  • All battles are Flat Battles, meaning Pokémon not at Level 50 will battle at their own level. Pokémon above Level 50 will be reduced to Level 50, with stats adjusted but moves and items unaffected.
  • Most mainstream Legendary Pokémon are banned, including Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem (and its Formes), Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion.
  • The Soul Dew item is banned.
  • No moves are banned.
  • Hold items and Pokémon species cannot be repeated on your team. This includes different formes of the same Pokémon (e.g., Rotom-Wash and Rotom-Heat cannot both be on your team).
  • High scores and rewards, such as PP Ups, are achievable through skillful performance and a competitively-ready team. EV training and IV/Nature breeding can be relevant to scoring.
