Master Route 118 in Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire! Get the Good Rod, battle trainers like Gabby & Ty, find items, and meet Steven.

Alright, let's get you set up for Route 118 in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. After your Gym Battle in Mauville City, make sure one of your Pokémon knows Surf because you'll definitely need it to head east. You can also take this time to do some training if you feel underleveled.

Once you're ready, head east from Mauville City onto Route 118. You'll find yourself at the water's edge, so hop on your Pokémon and start Surfing east. On the other side, you'll meet a Fisherman who's got a gift for you: the Good Rod! This is a great upgrade from the old one, letting you catch some more interesting Pokémon.

Right after that, you'll have the chance to battle Interviewers Gabby & Ty if you didn't catch them on Route 111. After that encounter, head south and check out the western of the two beach rocks – you'll find an Iron item there. Keep heading southeast to find another Fisherman to battle.

Now, head northeast towards the grassy area of Route 118. As you make your way through, you'll run into Steven. He's got something important to discuss, and before you know it, his Latias (in Omega Ruby) or Latios (in Alpha Sapphire) will swoop in!
