Walkthrough
- 1After completing Routes 115 and 116, heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center and head northeast to the Rustboro City Gym.
- 2The Gym features a simple puzzle and three trainers: Youngster Josh, Youngster Tommy, and Schoolkid Georgia. You can choose to battle them for EXP and money or avoid them by maneuvering around the tables and pillars.
- 3Examine the display west of Youngster Tommy to find a stone from Glittering Cave.
- 4After defeating the trainers, you can return to the Pokémon Center to heal before challenging Roxanne.

Strategy:
- Both of Roxanne's Pokémon are weak to Grass and Water-type attacks.
- If you chose Mudkip as your starter, its Water-type attacks will be very effective.
- Treecko's Grass-type attacks are also highly effective.
- Wingull, if leveled to around 16 to outspeed, can also be useful.
- Shroomish and Combusken (especially with Double Kick learned around Level 16) are also viable options.
- The goal is to exploit their weaknesses, as they primarily use Rock-type moves and defense-boosting tactics.
- The Stone Badge allows you to use the HM move Cut outside of battle and makes traded Pokémon up to Level 20 obey you.
- TM39 (Rock Tomb) is a decent Rock-type move for early-game use.
