Learn how to get around Hoenn in Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire! Discover the Mach Bike, Acro Bike, Surfing, Flying, and the new Soaring.

Alright, let's talk about getting around Hoenn in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Hoenn is a big place, and you'll need the right tools to explore it all efficiently. Thankfully, the game gives you a few awesome ways to travel!

The Bicycles:

You'll get your first taste of speed with a bicycle from Rydel's Cycles in Mauville City. There are two types:

• Mach Bike: This is your speed demon. It lets you zoom across the region way faster than running, and it's essential for climbing certain slippery slopes. If speed is your priority, this is the bike for you.
• Acro Bike: This one's more about agility. It's not as fast as the Mach Bike, but it lets you do cool tricks like hopping over railings and rock steps. This can open up new paths and areas you couldn't reach otherwise.

Surfing:

Hoenn has a ton of water, so you'll definitely need to learn how to surf. Just like in past games, you'll need a Pokémon that knows the move HM03 - Surf. Once you've taught it to a Pokémon and have the right Gym badge, you can start surfing by walking up to the edge of the water. Your Pokémon will help you glide across the surface.

Flying:

When you're tired of trekking across the land or sea, HM02 - Fly is your best friend. Teach this to a Flying-type Pokémon (or one that can learn it), get the required Gym badge, and you can instantly zip back to any town or location you've already visited. Just open your menu, select Fly, and choose your destination from the AreaNav. It's a huge time-saver!

Soaring:

This is a cool new feature in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire! Instead of just flying to a destination, you'll get the Eon Flute later in the game, which lets you physically soar through the skies. You can only go to places you've already visited, but controlling your flight path and seeing Hoenn from above is a totally different experience. The really neat part is that you can also find and fly to special Mirage Spots that only appear when you're soaring. These are unique locations you can't reach any other way!
