The Approach: As you get closer, you'll encounter some Trollhounds. These guys don't like acid or fire one bit, so keep those spells or abilities handy. Just be aware that they seem to have an endless supply of friends popping out from nearby caves.

The Main Battle: You'll find yourself in an area with two paths: north and east. The eastern path hugs the southern edge of the map, while the northern one follows the west. Honestly, either way, you'll end up heading north eventually. Up ahead, on higher ground to the north, a bunch of Trollhounds are guarding two cave entrances. This fight is less about a single tough enemy and more about surviving waves of them. They'll keep spawning from the caves, so expect this to be a bit of an endurance test. They're not individually strong, but they make up for it with sheer numbers. Try to avoid getting surrounded, especially by your spellcasters. Using a spell like Grease or Web to control their movement or protect your casters could be a good idea. Buffing up with spells like Haste and Animate Dead can really help here.

The Eastern Cave: You can go into either cave first, but since your buffs are likely still active, hitting the eastern cave first makes sense. As soon as you enter, you'll be attacked by about eight Trollhounds. No reinforcements this time, but their initial numbers can still be a challenge if your initiative rolls aren't great. Stick to what worked before: avoid being flanked and use your buffs. Once they're all down, check the northeastern part of the cave for a pile of bones. You'll find a Cloak of Resistance +1 there.

The Western Cave: After clearing the eastern cave, it's time to head into the western one. Surprise! More Trollhounds, but only four this time. You should have no trouble with this group. After you've dealt with them, look along the northern wall for a hidden chest that requires a Perception check of 20. Inside, you'll find a Keen Elven Curved Blade +1 and Bracers of Armor +4. A much better reward for your troubles!
