Navigate the Waterlogged Lowland in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. This guide details choices for the Illustrated Book Episode, skill checks, and rewards like Shortsword, Leather Armor, and an Emerald.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Travel to the Waterlogged Lowland and save your game. Remove armor from characters with high Athletics and Mobility skills.
  2. 2
Choose an option for the Illustrated Book Episode:
    • 1: “We determined that we should explore the lowland.”
  3. 3
2A: _“We determined that we should explore the lowland.”_ (Requires [Lore (Nature) 15])
  4. 4
2B: _“We would not retreat, and moved ever forward, toward the tall tree, determined to visit the big hut on our way there.”_
  5. 5
2C: _“Wary of another of us getting sucked into the bog, we decided to form a living chain. Standing next to each other and holding hands, we began to pull up our fellow traveler.“_ (Requires [Athletics 14])
  6. 6
3: _“We peeked inside the hut.”_ This yields a Shortsword, Leather Armor, and 137 GP. A [Knowledge (World) 17] check provides flavor text.
  7. 7
4: _We moved forward, seeing we’d drawn so near our goal!_
  8. 8
5A: _[Mobility 16] We ran forward, as fast as our legs could carry us - flying towards the closing passage!_
  9. 9
5B: _[Strength 15] We drew our swords and tried cutting a way through!_ Succeeding at either 5A or 5B prevents party damage. Amiri or Jaethal with +3 Strength modifier need a roll of 12 or higher for 5B.
  10. 10
6A: _[Lawful Good] The idol reeked of evil, to say the least. We were certain we must destroy it._ Grants 27 XP and the “Curse of Feeble Body” debuff (permanent -2 Constitution until Remove Curse).
  11. 11
6B: _[Neutral] We thought better of interfering with the sinister idol, and continued our journey._ No reward.
  12. 12
6C: _[Lore (Religion) 15] We tried to glean what sort of idol it might be._ This option is required to access the Chaotic Evil choice.
  13. 13
Chaotic Evil: _Suddenly (protagonist) grabbed the dragonfly and held it in front of his/her mouth… oh gods, did he/she just decide to eat it?!_ (Requires [Lore (Religion) 15] and [Fortitude 18]). If failed: 54 XP, an Emerald, and 1 Wisdom damage (recoverable by resting). If succeeded: 177 XP and an Emerald.
Tips
  • Remove armor from characters with high Athletics and Mobility before the Illustrated Book Episode.
  • You can abandon the journey and return to a previous save with no penalty to re-roll dice.
  • If you fail the Athletics check (2C), the sickened status can be removed by Harrim's Remove Sickness spell.
  • The Chaotic Evil choice is more lucrative but carries risks if the Fortitude save is failed.
  • The Neutral choice offers no tangible reward.
  • Shortsword
  • Leather Armor
  • 137 GP
  • 27 XP (Lawful Good option)
  • 54 XP or 177 XP (Chaotic Evil option)
  • Emerald (Chaotic Evil option)
  • “Curse of Feeble Body” debuff (Lawful Good option)
