Ruined Watchtower

Bandit Ambush: Follow the road southwest. A corpse and chest near the road are trapped (Perception 22) and lure bandits. Disarming the trap requires Trickery 22. Looting the chest triggers an ambush from hidden melee bandits (south of the road) and archers (west of the chest). Their initial attacks will be Sneak Attacks. To spoil the ambush, you can try to spot them with a high Perception check (38) or use spells like Web on the bushes west of the chest, then lure the melee bandits. Glitterdust can reveal hidden enemies, or a Fireball can be used offensively. Alternatively, provoke them and retreat to avoid being flat-footed. After the fight, loot the chest for 1 GP.

Torag's Pendant 1: Venture west off the road to find ruins. Before ascending stairs in the ruins, search southwest along the ruins for a Torag's Pendant hidden under rubble (Perception 19).

Web-Covered Watchtower: Find ancient stairs in the ruins (Perception 0) and ascend them (Mobility 19). You'll face Giant Spiders with high stats. Protect your casters and archers, concentrate fire, and defeat them.

Chest Puzzle: Head north from the spiders, then southeast into a web-covered tower. A chest is out of reach. Interact with it to start an Illustrated Book Episode. You can build a ladder or pass an Athletics 17 check to reach it. To open the chest, you'll need to pass a Perception 25 check, a Trickery 25 check, or a Strength 21 check. Failing the Athletics check causes damage; building a ladder takes time. The Strength check guarantees opening but may take longer if failed. The ideal sequence is Athletics, then Perception, Trickery, and Strength checks.

Watchtower Loot: The chest contains experience, a Black Cog-Wheel Ring, a Breastplate +2, a Heavy Shield, the Greataxe Trollreaper, and a Soot-Blackened Apron.

Torag's Pendant 2: Search rubble at the southern end of the tower for another Torag's Pendant (Perception 17).

Torag's Pendant 3: Return to the ruined stairs to the north and search nearby rubble for a third Torag's Pendant.

Hidden Panel: North of the stairs, find a statue of Torag. East of the statue, loot a chest for Potions of Cure Light Wounds and other items. Examine the pristine tower nearby and pass a Perception 20 check to find a hidden panel. This panel requires three cogs to access hidden treasure.
