Walkthrough

Talk to the Old Man on the bridge in the Bridge Over the Gudrin River area. He will ask you to find Black Berries along the coast.

Travel south along the bridge and then west on the road until you reach the southern edge of the map.

Continue west until you encounter a Poisonous Hydra. You do not need to fight it, but killing it yields experience.

Head north from the Hydra to reach the cliffs overlooking the southern end of the river.

Turn west again and defeat the goblins: two Goblin Horseslayers, a Goblin Sneak, and a Goblin Roc Eye.

Note the bush the goblins were guarding. Save your game.

Approach the bush and pass the automatic [Lore (Nature) 20] check to gain more options for resolving the quest.

Take the Black Berries from the bush.

Return to the Old Man on the bridge and talk to him.

Tips

Passing the [Lore (Nature) 20] check when approaching the berry bush is highly recommended as it expands your dialogue and quest resolution options.
If you fail the [Lore (Nature) 20] check, the Old Man will eat the berries and reveal he was seeking a dignified death.
If you pass the check, you can choose to tell the Old Man the berries are poisonous.
Convincing the Old Man to seek Jhod for help in Tuskdale is the most lucrative option and can aid in peacefully resolving civil unrest during the 'Season of Bloom' quest.
Choosing the [Chaotic Evil] dialogue option will grant the Old Man the death he desires, though perhaps not painlessly.
Choosing the [Chaotic Neutral] option results in the Old Man begging for the berries.
