General Rank Ups

Learn how to handle the first Military Rank Up in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Choose your recruitment strategy and understand the effects on your kingdom's military and events.

Your general is concerned about the state of the barony's military. You have several options for recruitment, each with different effects on your kingdom.

Military Rank I Choices:

1. Open unrestricted recruitment: Pleases Kassil, displeases Amiri. Grants Military +1 and a bonus on opportunity rolls (Strength in Numbers).
2. Select the strongest and most skillful recruits: Pleases Amiri, displeases Regongar. Grants Military +1 and a bonus on problem rolls (Talented Recruits).
3. Select those who have ambition: Pleases Regongar, displeases Kassil. Grants Military +1 and a bonus on event rolls, but a penalty to Military on failure (Ambitious Recruits).
4. Make your own decision: Pleases all three generals.

Regardless of your choice, meeting with your general grants a Military +1 bonus. Additionally, your choice may unlock a follow-up project:

• Strength in Numbers (50 BP, 14 days): +1 bonus to resolving opportunities.
• Talented Recruits (50 BP, 14 days): +1 bonus to resolving problems.
• Ambitious Recruits (75 BP, 14 days): +2 bonus on all event rolls, but -1 Military on failure.
