Old Oak

Discover the Old Oak area in Pathfinder: Kingmaker! Learn how to reach it, defeat the Man-Eater Troll, and find valuable loot like the Belt of Giant Strength +2.

Alright, so you're heading out to the Old Oak area in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. This is a pretty important spot early on, good for testing your skills and grabbing some nice gear. Think of it as your first real challenge outside of Oleg's Trading Post.

To get there from Oleg's, just follow this path:

9. East

You'll pop out in the southern part of the map. From there, you want to head north, but keep your eyes peeled. You're looking for a Man-Eater Troll. These guys are tough – big, hit hard, and they regenerate like crazy unless you finish them off with fire or acid. Luckily, most spellcasters have access to cantrips like Acid Splash, which is perfect for this.

Before you fight: Save your game! This troll is no joke. It's way tougher than that Manticore you might have fought in the Endless Plains. Make sure your best tank is ready. Buff them up with spells like Mage Armor, Shield, Shield of Faith, Mirror Image, or Blur if you have them. General buffs like Bardsong or Bless are great too. Have your tank, ideally the one with Blur, charge in to grab the troll's attention.

The goal here is to outlast the troll. Keep an eye on your buffs and your tank's health. Once it's finally down, don't forget to hit it with that Acid Splash or Burning Hands to stop its regeneration. If you don't, it'll just get back up!

After you've dealt with the troll, loot its corpse. You'll find a Belt of Giant Strength +2, which is a fantastic boost for any melee character. There's also a nearby corpse with a Light Crossbow +1, so grab that too.

But wait, there's more loot! Follow the water northwest from where the troll was. You'll find a chest near a tree. Inside, you can snag a Scroll of Protection from Chaos, a Potion of Mage Armor, and a Scroll of Enlarge Person, plus some other odds and ends. Just be a little careful, though – there are three Boggards hanging out just south of there. They're not as scary as the troll, but don't underestimate their fear effects!
