Alright, let's tackle the Mushrooms from the Mud Bowl quest in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. It's a pretty straightforward errand, but there are a couple of things to watch out for, especially if you're not a fan of unexpected fights.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Starting the Quest: First things first, you need to head over to the Swamp Witch’s Hut area. Once you're there, find the Old Beldame. To get her attention without trouble, either ring the bell on her gate or pass a [Dexterity 15] check. If you mess this up and barge in, you'll end up fighting her, which isn't ideal. Once you're chatting, pick the dialog option _”I’ve got a question for you….”_ and then respond with _”How can I help you, good woman?”_ to officially kick off the Mushrooms from the Mud Bowl quest. She wants ten Black Rattlecaps, and they're found in the Mud Bowl area.
  2. 2
Getting to the Mud Bowl: From the Swamp Witch’s Hut, you'll need to travel east into the Kamelands, and then head north across the Shrike River. The game should mark the Mud Bowl on your map once you accept the quest, so just follow that marker.
  3. 3
Collecting the Black Rattlecaps and Fighting the Tendriculos: When you arrive in the Mud Bowl, you'll notice the Black Rattlecaps scattered around. You need ten of them, and there are fourteen available, so you've got a bit of wiggle room. However, your main obstacle here is a Tendriculos, a nasty shambler-like beast that patrols the center of the area. This thing hits hard, dealing 20-30 damage per hit and getting multiple attacks per round. It's also got a high Attack bonus, so even your best tanks might struggle if you're not prepared. Warning: Going into this fight without buffs is a recipe for disaster. Make sure to buff your party thoroughly, including using Haste if you have it. With proper preparation, you can take it down without taking too much damage.
  4. 4
Looting the Mud Bowl: After you've dealt with the Tendriculos, you're free to collect the Black Rattlecaps. While you're at it, check the western edge of the map, near some foul water, for some extra loot. You'll find two Potions of Enlarge Person, a Potion of Blur, 89 GP, and a Frost Battleaxe +1, among other less significant items.
  5. 5
Completing the Quest: Once you've got your ten Black Rattlecaps, head back to the Old Beldame at the Swamp Witch’s Hut to turn them in and complete the quest.
