First, check the table for the axe – spoiler, it's not there. Next, they'll tell you to look in the kegs to the right of where you entered. Nope, not there either. Finally, they remember the key might be in the sacks hidden behind a breakable wall near the locked front door. Go find those sacks, and voilà, the key is inside!
