Old Friends

Find Trygve, Hemming’s Envoy, in the cave system in Snotingham. Use Odin’s Sight if you have trouble locating him. Speak with him, and then follow him to the docks.

Call your longship and enter it. Trygve will follow. Sail west through the river system.

As you sail toward the checkpoint on the western shore, you will be ambushed by Picts. You can fight them in melee or with your bow from the longship. Shoot fire pots along the shore to deal with groups of enemies. Smash through weak wooden river blockades or sail around them.

Reach the objective marker on the western shore and wait for the convoy (small row boats) to arrive.

Once the convoy reaches the shore, speak with Trygve. He will ask you to go ahead to the Tip of the Spear to meet Hemming Jarl.

Speak with Hemming Jarl at the Tip of the Spear. You will be introduced to Vili during the conversation. Dialogue choices do not matter.

After the scene, you will begin the assault on Ulkerthorpe Fort. Kill all enemies, focusing on the Pict chief, Gede, who is in the tower.

Beware of Wolf Masters and Madmen who use fire attacks, and Brigands who throw dirt to obscure your vision.

Reach the tower and climb to the top. You can enter the tower and climb the stairs, or climb the walls.

At the top of the tower, you will find Gede. He is an elite unit, not a boss. He uses a spear and has few special abilities, but drinks a potion when his health is low, increasing his combat effectiveness. You can kite him until he dies.

Once Gede is killed, a cutscene with Hemming will begin. Dialogue choices do not matter. The quest will complete after the scene.
