Salve for a Fresh Wound

Your first step is to find and speak with Acha. You'll find her waiting for you at the northern gates of Lincoln. Don't stress too much about the dialogue choices here; no matter what you pick, the conversation will lead you to the next objective.

Acha will tell you that Hunwald has gone north of Lincoln, likely to a spot near an old, tall tree where he used to spend time with his father. Head to the objective marker north of Lincoln. This area is called Ealdorman's Overlook. When you arrive, you'll find Hunwald. Approach him to trigger a cutscene. Again, the dialogue choices during this scene don't impact the quest's outcome, so pick whatever feels right.

Once the cutscene at Ealdorman's Overlook concludes, you'll need to escort Hunwald. Follow him a short distance northeast. Eivor will soon notice a potential threat ahead on the road – a group of Saxon warriors looking to assassinate Hunwald. You'll need to take the initiative and eliminate them. They'll be marked with teal objective markers. If you have trouble spotting them in the surrounding bushes, backtrack to the road. Eivor will call out to Hunwald, which should draw the warriors out to you.

After you've dealt with all the Saxon warriors, continue following Hunwald further north until you reach Grimsby, where Swanburrow resides. Another scene will play out, and during it, you'll have a few more dialogue options. Choose as you see fit, and once this scene wraps up, the 'Salve for a Fresh Wound' quest will be successfully completed.
