First up, you'll need to find Vili over at Odin’s Rest. Before you jump straight into the main quest marker, take a moment to wander around and chat with the folks who have those little chat bubbles above their heads. It's always good to get the lay of the land and hear what people are saying.

When you're ready for the funeral to officially begin, go ahead and speak with Vili. You'll be tasked with presenting your gift to Hemming. Remember that shield you had the hermit add a symbol to during the 'Adorning the Adorned' quest? That's the one. After the cutscene that follows, your next stop is to find Sunniva at the longhouse in Hemthorpe.

Vili or Trygve - Who Should You Choose As Jarl?

Once you're with Sunniva, the Althing will get underway. During this scene, Vili will ask for your opinion on who should be the next Jarl. You'll be presented with two dialogue options:

1. “I see a jarl in you.”
2. “I see Trygve as jarl, and you with me.”

Now, don't stress too much about this choice – it doesn't drastically alter the main storyline. However, there's a pretty significant consequence to consider. If you back Vili to be the Jarl, he'll stay put in his settlement and won't join you back in Ravensthorpe. This means you won't be able to recruit him as a Jomsviking for your longship crew. On the other hand, if you choose Trygve, he'll take up the mantle of Jarl, and Vili will then be free to join your crew in Ravensthorpe.
