Alright, so you're at the part of the story called "Under the Skin." This is where you'll have a chat with Trygve, and your choices actually matter for who becomes the next Jarl. You'll also be teaming up with Sunniva to track down some Picts and find Vili.

Walkthrough

    Talk to Trygve: You'll be presented with two dialogue options. If you want to have a say in who becomes the next Jarl, pick the first option: “Snotinghamscire can’t lose another.” If you go with the second option, “Do as you must, Trygve,” you won't be able to suggest Trygve, and Vili will automatically become the Jarl. This also means you won't be able to recruit Vili to your longship crew later on.

    After the Choice: No matter what you tell Trygve, a cutscene will play. Afterwards, Sunniva will alert you to the presence of Picts. Eivor will end up fighting them alone. Follow Sunniva to where a scout was killed, and then head north into the Odin Mine Hideout.

    Find Vili in the Mine: As soon as you enter the Odin Mine Hideout, look for a hole in the cave wall to your north. Going through here is optional, but it's worth it because you can find a Book of Knowledge for a new ability and a Tungsten Ingot in a chest. If you're just focused on finding Vili, keep heading west through the cave.

    Help Vili and Follow: You'll soon find Vili fighting some Picts. Jump in and help him take them down. After the fight, follow Vili deeper into the mine, continuing to clear out any Picts you encounter.

    Reach Odin's Hovel: Eventually, you'll find the exit from the mines. Follow Vili a little further until you reach a place called Odin's Hovel.

    Speak with Vili: Once you're at Odin's Hovel, talk to Vili to trigger another cutscene.

    Romance Option: During this scene, you'll get a chance to express romantic interest in Vili. Don't stress too much about this – it's a brief romance with no lasting consequences, so feel free to pursue it even if you're interested in someone else. Once the scene is over, the quest will be complete.

  • The optional path in the Odin Mine Hideout is a good place to grab some extra loot, including a new ability. Don't miss it if you're looking to power up!
  • The romance option with Vili doesn't lock you into anything, so if you're curious, go for it!
