How to Boost Character Relationships

There are four ways to gain affinity with characters in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, all tied to game progression. While you can max out each character's affinity with Cloud, only the character with the highest relationship will go on dates at the Gold Saucer. A warning appears before the date, so ensure you've invested in your preferred character. Below are the four methods to deepen your relationship bonds:

• Dialogue Choices: Occur during main story downtime, presented in sets of three with best/worst answers. These are missable.
• Story Missions: Tied to specific main story events, offering an easy way to gain points.
• Side Quests: Certain side quests, generally revolving around a specific character, will affect their relationship. These unlock as you reach new areas.
• Synergy Skills & Abilities: Executing synergy skills and abilities for the first time grants a relationship boost. These are unlocked using SP points in character folios.

Missed dialogue choices can be compensated for with side quests and synergy skills. The first date opportunity is in Chapter 8, with a significant date at the Gold Saucer in Chapter 12 with the character you have the highest relationship with. Cait Sith cannot be romanced as he joins late. After completing the game, Chapter Select can be used to revisit bonding opportunities. You can check your current relationship status by holding L1; a blue emoji indicates a strong bond.

Aerith Relationship Choices
