Roche Boss Guide: Chapter 4

Learn how to beat Roche in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Chapter 4. This guide covers his attacks, weaknesses, and the best strategies to win the duel.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Initial Duel

   Roche attacks with his motorcycle and uses various lightning-based abilities. Your main goal is to pressure him by blocking his attacks in Punisher Mode and countering.

2. Phase 2: Stagger and Damage

   Once Roche is pressured, use Focused Thrust to stagger him. During the stagger, deal as much damage as possible using high-level fire spells like Firaga or Firebolt Blade. Summon Ifrit for bonus damage and use your Limit Break if it's ready.

Strategy:

• Preparation: Equip Fire Materia and the Ifrit summon. Make sure Healing Materia is equipped to restore HP.
• Punisher Mode: Activate Punisher Mode and focus on blocking Roche's attacks. Blocking successfully allows for a counter-attack, which builds his stagger gauge.
• Avoid Motorcycle Attacks: Don't chase Roche when he's on his motorcycle. Instead, stay mobile and try to position yourself on the opposite side of the arena from him. This helps avoid attacks like Loose Voltage, Crash and Burn, and High Voltage Ride.
• Loose Voltage: When Roche rides the edge of the arena and shoots lightning sparks, watch for AoE markers on the ground. Step out of these to avoid moderate damage and being stunned.
• Crash and Burn & High Voltage Ride: These are similar attacks where Roche circles the arena. Keep moving and stay on the opposite side to avoid them.
• Blitz: Roche shoots lightning sparks while circling. Keep moving and guard to avoid being stunned and vulnerable.
• Maximize Stagger: When Roche is staggered, hit him with your strongest fire attacks (Firaga, Firebolt Blade) and your Limit Break.
• Summon Ifrit: If Ifrit is available, summon him to deal additional fire damage over time.
• Reward: Defeating Roche grants 1,700 EXP, 30 AP, and 700+ Gil.
