Alright, let's talk about the Bashura. You'll run into these guys pretty frequently as you make your way through Mount Gagazet, and they also pop up in the initial area of Zanarkand. They're pretty straightforward, mostly relying on physical attacks, but they do have a couple of tricks up their sleeve.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• HP: 17,000
• Overkill HP: 6,972
• AP: 1,860
• Weak: Fire
• Strong: Nothing

Item Drops:

• Common Drop: Power Sphere
• Rare Drop: Power Sphere
• Common Steal: Soul Spring
• Rare Steal: Soul Spring (x2)

Strategy:

• The Bashura's main offensive move is physical attacks, so make sure your party's Defense is in good shape.
• Watch out for its Psyche Up ability, which it uses to boost its Strength, Defense, and Magic Defense. Try to debuff it if you can, or just power through the buffs.
• Once the Bashura hits about 50% HP, it'll start countering everything you do. It'll raise its fists and retaliate for three turns. During this phase, it's best to hold back a bit. You can either wait out the three turns or use abilities that don't trigger its counter, like healing or buffing your own party.
• Since it's weak to Fire, spamming Fire spells from your Black Mage or using Fire Blitz with Tidus can deal significant damage.
• Its Magic Defense isn't great, so if you have strong Black Mages, they can be very effective.
• When it's not in its counter stance, go all out with your strongest physical and magical attacks.
