Learn how to beat Belgemine's Ixion in Final Fantasy X HD Remaster. Get tips on using Ifrit, Hellfire Overdrive, and what rewards you'll get, win or lose.
Alright, so you've made it to the Moonflow South Bank and it's time to face another of Belgemine's Aeons: Ixion. This fight can be a real pain if you're not ready for it, but don't sweat it too much. Remember, you don't actually *need* to win this one, and the rewards for victory aren't game-changing. You can use both Ifrit and Valefor in this battle, so if one falls, you've still got backup.
For the first half of the fight, Ixion will mostly just hit you with physical attacks and its move called Aerospark, which is also physical. The real challenge kicks in when Ixion drops to 50% HP and casts Haste on itself. That's when it starts taking way more turns, so you'll need to be ready.
BOSS - Belgemine’s Ixion
Stats / Weaknesses:
- HP: 6,000
- Attacks: Physical Attack, Aerospark (Physical)
- Special: Casts Haste on self at 50% HP.
Strategy:
- Start the battle with Ifrit. Its Fire attack can actually heal Ifrit itself, which is super handy.
- If Yuna's Overdrive is ready, unleash Ifrit's Hellfire. This move alone can take off about half of Ixion's 6,000 HP.
- With good stats on Yuna and Ifrit, you might even get a second Hellfire off, potentially defeating Ixion in just two hits!
- Be aware that using an Aeon's Overdrive gives Ixion a lot of turns. Make sure you've been leveling up Yuna on the Sphere Grid to handle the extra attacks.
- Win: 2 Dragon Scales
- Lose: 6 Smoke Bombs
- Regardless of Win/Loss: Summoner's Soul (allows teaching Aeons new abilities using items).
After the fight, whether you won or lost, Belgemine gives you the Summoner's Soul. This is a pretty cool item because it lets you teach your Aeons new abilities using items. While you probably won't have many great abilities to teach them right now, it's something to look forward to as you progress.
Once you regain control of Yuna, head north. Keep an eye on your minimap; you should see a small path branching off to the left, just north of Belgemine. Follow this path to the end, and you'll find a chest containing a Magic Def Sphere. Grab that, then continue heading north to the next screen. After a short scene, you'll finally reach the rest area.
