The Monster Arena is the most expansive and one of the most difficult sidequests in Final Fantasy X. Located in the Calm Lands, it involves capturing monsters from various areas and species to unlock special "Creations" to battle. These battles are challenging, with some enemies boasting up to 10,000,000 HP.
To capture monsters, you need a weapon with the Capture ability and must defeat an enemy using that weapon via Attack or Skills (Overdrives do not count). Weapons with Capture have only one slot and cannot be customized with this ability. You can capture up to ten of any enemy from every area. Capturing all enemies of a particular species or from a particular area unlocks new "Creations" for you to fight, along with special item rewards.
Unlocking Unique Creations
Capturing specific monsters contributes to unlocking Area and Species Creations at the Monster Arena. Meeting milestones for capturing all enemies from an area or all of a species will unlock new monsters to fight and provide special item rewards. The Sunken Cave is also referred to as the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth.
