BOSS - Seymour Omnis

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Seymour's elemental affinity and spell tier are determined by four Mortiphasm discs behind him.
  • The colored circle closest to Seymour dictates his elemental affinity and spell level.
  • 1 disc: Halves damage from that element.
  • 2 discs: Immune to that element.
  • 3 discs: Absorbs that element.
  • 4 discs: Absorbs that element and is weak to the opposite.
  • Seymour always takes half damage from any element. Magic may not be the best option.
  • Physical attacks rotate discs counter-clockwise; magical attacks rotate them clockwise.
  • Wakka is the only party member who can hit the Mortiphasms with physical attacks.

Phases:

  1. Seymour starts with four fire discs aligned, casting four Firagas. Rotate a Mortiphasm immediately to avoid this.
  2. After six party attacks, Seymour glows red and casts Dispel.
  3. Two turns after Dispel, Seymour casts Ultima (deals significant damage; keep HP above 4,000).
  4. The turn after Ultima, Seymour realigns all four Mortiphasms to the same element.
  5. When Seymour's HP is low, the cycle changes from six attacks to three attacks before Dispel.

Strategy:

  • Use Yuna's NulElement spells for defense.
  • Aeons are usable and cannot be Banish-ed by Seymour. Elemental Aeons can absorb Seymour's attacks.
  • Consider armor customization with "Eater" abilities (requires 20 Gem of the respective element per ability) purchased from Wantz.
  • Ultima is special damage, not magical. Reduce damage with an Aeon's Shield command or Focus.

City of Dying Dreams:

  • New enemies include Barbatos (high HP, counters with Mortar) and Demonolith (counters with Pharaoh's Curse, uses Stone Breath).
  • Stoneproof armor is ideal against Demonolith's Petrify. Silence Buster can prevent its counter.
  • Great Malboro can use Bad Breath, inflicting multiple status ailments.
