Master the Via Purifico section of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Learn strategies to defeat Grothia (Ifrit), Pterya (Valefor), and Spathi (Bahamut) with this detailed walkthrough.
Walkthrough
- 1Grothia (Ifrit):
Grothia is essentially Ifrit. You cannot use your own Ifrit. Grothia absorbs Fire but has no elemental weaknesses. Bahamut is a recommended choice. Use Shield before his first turn to prepare for Hellfire. Focus on strong spells like Thundaga, Blizzaga, or Waterga, and avoid Firaga as Grothia will absorb it. - 2Pterya (Valefor):
Pterya is Valefor. If your Bahamut is in good condition from the previous fight, it can be used again. Otherwise, Ixion, Ifrit, or Shiva are good options. Pterya has no elemental affiliation. Her attacks include a normal attack, Sonic Wings (which can cause delay), and Energy Ray when her Overdrive is full. Use Shield when Energy Ray is imminent. - 3Spathi (Bahamut):
Spathi is Bahamut, so your own Bahamut cannot be used. Elemental Aeons are effective as they can heal themselves with their respective elements. Spathi does not attack normally; instead, it counts down from five before unleashing Mega Flare. Attack normally during the countdown. Use Shield when Spathi is about to use Mega Flare to minimize damage. Consider using your own Overdrive at the start of the countdown.
Upon defeating all three of Isaaru's Aeons, the perspective shifts to Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku in another area of Via Purifico.
Tips
- Always consider using the Shield ability before powerful enemy Overdrives, especially Hellfire and Energy Ray.
- When fighting elemental Aeons, consider using your own Aeon's elemental attacks to heal them if they are weak to that element (e.g., Shiva using Blizzara).
- Avoid using elemental attacks that the enemy Aeon absorbs (e.g., Firaga against Grothia).
- Bahamut is a strong choice for Grothia and potentially Pterya if available.
- For Spathi, focus on dealing damage during its Mega Flare countdown and using Shield at the critical moment.
