Alright, let’s talk about Hornet! This guy is one of the Species Creations you'll find in the Monster Arena, and it's a bit of a pain if you're not prepared. You'll need to capture a few specific fiends to even get a shot at him.

How to Unlock:

To get Hornet to show up, you need to have captured at least five of these fiends: Bite Bug, Killer Bee, Nebiros, and Wasp. Make sure you've got at least five total from that list, and Hornet will be available in the Monster Arena.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• HP: 620,000
• Overkill HP: 50,000
• AP: 10,000
• Weak: Nothing
• Strong: Nothing

Item Drops:

• Common Drop: Accuracy Sphere (x1)
• Rare Drop: Dark Matter (x1)
• Common Steal: Poison Fang (x4)
• Rare Steal: Purifying Salt (x2)

Boss Analysis:

Hornet's basic physical attack is no joke. It can inflict Silence, Darkness, and Sleep, each lasting for three turns. Even worse, this attack can also cause instant KO, so having Ribbon or Deathproof on your armor is pretty much mandatory. It also has Venomous Stab and Bewitching Stab, which deal damage and can inflict Poison or Confusion, respectively. Oh, and it can cast Curaga on itself, which is annoying.

Strategy:

• Armor is Key: Seriously, get Ribbon or Deathproof on your armor. The instant KO from its normal attack is brutal, and Ribbon will protect you from the other status ailments it throws around too.
• Accuracy Matters: Hornet has high Agility and Luck, making it tough for weaker characters to land hits. Boost your accuracy with abilities like Aim, or try lowering its Luck with Jinx.
• Countering Curaga: The easiest way to deal with its self-healing is to cast Reflect on Hornet. Just be careful if you're planning on using magic yourself, as it'll bounce back at you!
• Status Effects: You can try to Silence Hornet, but it's pretty resistant. A Silence Grenade might work, but don't count on it. Armor Break is also an option, and Auron's Banishing Blade Overdrive is a guaranteed way to inflict it. A Frag Grenade can also help.
• Don't Sweat Curaga (Too Much): If you're protected from status ailments, its Curaga isn't that big of a deal. Just focus on dealing damage and staying alive.
