The S.S. Winno

Learn how to get the Jecht Shot on the S.S. Winno in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Find Al Bhed Primer Vol. V and unlock the Striker trophy!

Alright, you've just finished up at Kilika Temple and snagged Ifrit. Now it's time to head back to Kilika and catch a ride on the S.S. Winno to Luca. If you dealt with Lord Ochu earlier, this trip back through Kilika Woods should be a breeze. Once you're back in Kilika, make your way to the southern dock on the second screen – that's your departure point.

As soon as you regain control on the ship, you'll be in a room with the Besaid Aurochs and some other folks. Take a look around on the left side; there's a chest there that's a little hidden, but it holds a Hi-Potion. After that, head out of the room. You'll run into O’aka again. You can give him some more gil if you want; remember, this adds to any previous donations you might have made.

Before we get too far, it's a good idea to save your game. Now, head up to the deck of the ship. Right near where you appear, there's another door that leads to the bridge. Go on in there – you'll find Al Bhed Primer Vol. V sitting on the ground right behind the person steering the ship. Keep an eye out towards the back of the ship, too. There's a scene with Yuna and some Luca Goers, and if you head up to the upper level, you can catch more scenes with Wakka and Lulu that offer some neat insights.

The main event on this voyage, though, is learning the Jecht Shot, a special skill for Blitzball. Seriously, save your game before you attempt this – you only get one shot at it right now. If you mess up, you'll have to reset and try again. Find the blitzball near the front of the ship and approach it to kick off the cutscene. The game will give you a quick rundown, but the core idea is to press the [X]/[A]/[B] button along with the direction on the D-Pad that matches the words as they appear on screen. They flash by pretty quickly!

Pro Tip: Don't stress about hitting every single word. You don't need a perfect score to nail the Jecht Shot. Just focus on hitting as many as you can in sequence. The game gives you a little practice time before the real deal, so use that to get a feel for the timing.

Getting the Jecht Shot is super important, and successfully learning it will also unlock the Striker trophy/achievement. After a brief scene celebrating your success, talk to Yuna for one last scene, and then you'll finally arrive in Luca!
