Learn how to beat the underwater Extractor boss in Final Fantasy X HD Remaster. Get tips on Tidus and Wakka's roles, Aqua Shooter, and Depth Charges.

Alright, so you've run into the Extractor, and it's a bit of a tricky one because you're stuck fighting underwater with just Tidus and Wakka. No third party member means no fancy healing spells, so get ready to rely on your trusty Potions and Hi-Potions. The Extractor's main move is called Aqua Shooter, which is water-based. If you've got any armor that resists Water, slap it on – it'll definitely help soften the blow. Expect it to hit you with Aqua Shooter twice right at the start.

After those initial blasts, the Extractor will rise into the air, but don't relax just yet! It's charging up its next attack, Depth Charges. This one hits both Tidus and Wakka pretty hard and can even inflict Darkness. The good news? You can actually interrupt this attack! If you manage to deal around 500 damage to the Extractor while it's rising, you can cancel it. You could also try using Provoke, but fair warning, that makes its Aqua Shooter attack even stronger, so use it wisely.

• HP: 4,000
• Overkill HP: 600
• AP: 660
• Weakness: Thunder
• Resistances: Fire, Ice, Water, Holy (halved damage)

Item Drops:

• Common Drop: Mega Phoenix (x1)
• Rare Drop: Mega Phoenix (x2)
• Common Steal: Potion
• Rare Steal: Potion

Strategy:

• Start the battle by having Tidus cast Haste on himself, then on Wakka. This will give you a significant turn advantage.
• If you have Slow, use it on the Extractor. This will further increase your number of turns and make the fight much more manageable.
• Once Haste is up, consider having Tidus use Cheer a couple of times to boost both characters' Strength. The defensive boost from Cheer won't help against Aqua Shooter, but the increased damage output is crucial for interrupting Depth Charges.
• If you have Wakka's Element Reels Overdrive, try to land the lightning hits on the slots. This will exploit the Extractor's weakness.
• Remember, dealing about 500 damage while the Extractor is rising can cancel its Depth Charges attack. Keep the pressure on!
• If you have armor with Water resistance, equip it to mitigate the damage from Aqua Shooter.
