Master the Seymour Natus boss fight in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Learn strategies for all three phases, Mortibody's mechanics, and item drops.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • HP: 36,000
  • Overkill HP: 3,500
  • AP: 6,300
  • Weak: Nothing
  • Strong: Nothing

Item Drops:

  • Common Drop: Lv. 2 Key Sphere (x2)
  • Rare Drop: Lv. 2 Key Sphere (x2)
  • Common Steal: Tetra Elemental (x2)
  • Rare Steal: Tetra Elemental (x3)

Phases:

  1. Phase 1 (Elemental): Mortibody uses tier 1 elemental spells (Blizzard, Thunder, Water, Fire) hitting all characters. Seymour uses multi-elemental spells. Mortibody has 4,000 HP initially, then siphons HP from Seymour, with its max HP decreasing by 1,000 each time. Be cautious with buffs; if all three characters have the same buff, Mortibody uses Desperado, dealing damage and removing all buffs. If Haste, Shell, Reflect, and any Nul spell are present (four or more buffs), Mortibody has a chance to use Desperado. Use Shell on your two weakest characters defensively. Al Bhed Potions can help heal.
  2. Phase 2 (Petrification): Occurs when Seymour's HP drops below 24,000. Seymour casts Protect on himself. He begins using Break, which petrifies characters. Mortibody uses Shattering Claw to shatter petrified characters, ejecting them from battle (no AP gained). Ensure Seymour and Mortibody don't act consecutively to avoid this. Remove Protect with Dispel or Ixion's Aerospark.
  3. Phase 3 (High Damage): Begins when Seymour's HP reaches 12,000 or below. Seymour uses Flare, a powerful non-elemental attack that can one-shot characters. Cast Shell on two characters and hope for the best for the third. Lulu's Focus can increase magic defense. Mortibody casts Cura on Seymour; casting Reflect on Seymour can make Cura bounce back to your party.

Strategy:

  • Use Trigger Commands at the start for Auron and Tidus (Strength) and Yuna (Magic Defense).
  • Avoid stacking the same buffs on all three characters to prevent Desperado.
  • Be mindful of having four or more buffs, especially Haste, Shell, Reflect, and Nul spells, as this increases the chance of Desperado.
  • Aeons cannot be used for long as Seymour will Banish them. Use Overdrive attacks before they are Banished if possible.
  • In Phase 1, focus on healing and managing elemental damage.
  • In Phase 2, prioritize removing Seymour's Protect and preventing characters from being shattered.
  • In Phase 3, focus on surviving Flare and using Reflect to counter Mortibody's healing.
