Master Gil grinding in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster with our guide. Learn efficient methods using Mimics, One-Eye, and Kottos for maximum gil.
This guide details methods for efficiently grinding Gil (in-game currency) in Final Fantasy X HD Remaster.
Mimics
The first method involves using Mimics found in the Omega Ruins. Ensure you have the Gillionaire ability on a weapon, which Rikku's Celestial Weapon provides. Mimics disguise themselves as treasure chests in the Omega Ruins. If a chest contains nothing when Steal is used, it will transform into a Mimic. While there are four types, their spoils are the same. Mimics normally yield 50,000 Gil, which becomes 100,000 Gil with Gillionaire. This method is entirely random and the Omega Ruins are dangerous. It's recommended to have someone with First Strike and Flee on their weapon to handle ambushes.
One-Eye
One-Eye, a Monster Arena boss, requires capturing at least four of each floating eye fiend. To grind Gil with One-Eye, defeat it in combat. Filling out a significant portion of the Sphere Grid is usually sufficient to beat it. The equipment One-Eye drops can be sold for more than the 8,000 Gil cost to initiate the fight. Drops can sell for 9,000 to 67,000 Gil. With Celestial Weapons that can break the 9,999 damage limit, One-Eye can be defeated quickly (two hits for 99,999 damage), allowing for rapid accumulation of sellable equipment.
Kottos and Customization
This method requires more preparation. It's advisable to have armor with Auto-Phoenix on at least two characters and ideally Celestial Weapons with high Strength to break the 9,999 damage limit. To start, purchase armors (Tetra armors) from the Kilika shop for 2,250 Gil each. You can only buy one at a time. Head to the Monster Arena and fight Kottos. Kottos counters every attack, making Auto-Phoenix useful. If your damage output is low, use Wakka's Attack Reels or Tidus' Slice & Dice Overdrives, setting their Overdrive Mode to Stoic. Overkill Kottos to get 40 Healing Springs. Use one Healing Spring to customize a Tetra armor, increasing its sell price to around 37,000 Gil. Customizing SOS Regen requires 12 Healing Springs. The main drawback is needing to return to Kilika to buy more armors after selling the customized ones, which can interrupt the grinding flow.
