Alright, let's dive into the "Battle of an Epoch" challenge! This is the fourth event in the Contending Tides series, and it's happening in the Dadaupa Gorge's Meaty Arena. You'll be facing off against some tough Ruin Guards. Don't worry, though, I'll walk you through how to pick the best team and strategies to beat it, even on the hardest difficulties: Normal, Hard, and Extreme.

You can find the Arena right in Dadaupa Gorge. There's a handy teleport waypoint that will take you straight there, so no need to wander around!

Arena Effect: Frozen Foes Hit Harder!

This arena has a cool trick up its sleeve: when your Normal and Charged Attacks hit enemies that are Frozen, there's a 50% chance to trigger a shockwave that deals Area of Effect (AoE) damage. This effect can happen once every second, so keeping enemies Frozen is key to racking up damage!

Challenge Requirements

Each difficulty has specific goals you need to meet:

Normal Difficulty

• Defeat 2 opponents within 300 seconds.
• Stay within the arena the entire time.
• Don't let more than 2 characters fall in battle.

Hard Difficulty

• Defeat 3 opponents within 240 seconds.
• .
• Don't let more than 1 character fall in battle.

Extreme Difficulty

• Defeat 5 opponents within 135 seconds.
• .
• No character deaths allowed.

Premium Team Strategy

The main idea here is to freeze the Ruin Guards and take advantage of that 50% bonus damage from the Arena Effect. Ganyu is perfect for this since she's Cryo and can hit the Ruin Guards' weak points with her bow.

1. Start off with Zhongli. Use his Elemental Skill to get a sturdy shield up – it'll block a ton of damage.
2. Switch to Mona and use her Elemental Skill. This will taunt the enemies and also constantly apply Hydro damage.
3. Next, swap to Ganyu and use her Elemental Skill. This also taunts enemies and helps apply Cryo. Now you should be able to inflict the Frozen status!
4. Once they're frozen, charge up Ganyu's shots and unleash them for massive damage.
5. Keep reapplying Hydro with Mona or Tartaglia, then use Ganyu to freeze them again. Just repeat this cycle, and those Ruin Guards will go down fast.

Remember to keep hitting those Frozen enemies with Normal and Charged Attacks to trigger those shockwaves!

Free to Play Team Strategy

This strategy also focuses on freezing enemies to get that sweet 50% bonus damage. Fischl is great here for hitting the Ruin Guard's weak spot (its eye). If you have Diona, she can also be a good swap for a Cryo applicator and healer.
