Master Final Fantasy Tactics Part 128 with our comprehensive guide. Learn strategies for Survey No. 261 and The Finest Blade missions, including enemy weaknesses and objectives.

Part 128 of our Final Fantasy Tactics guide covers two missions: "Survey No. 261" and "The Finest Blade." These missions involve geological surveying and hunting a rare beast, respectively. While you can focus solely on objectives, defeating enemies will make the missions easier.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
    Mission E2-08 ~ Survey No. 261

Objective: Survey Points of Geological Interest in Zellea, the Forbidden Land.

Enemy Composition: Behemoths, Reavers, Tonberry Kings, Plagues, Malboro Kings, Cannoneers, Tricksters, Seers, Parivirs, Ninjas, and Master Monks. Be aware of Sten Needles scattered throughout the area.

Recommended Units: Fast units like Ninjas for surveying, healers, and animal hunters (especially for Sidewinder). Consider units that can deal with ranged threats like the Cannoneer and Trickster.

Strategy: The primary goal is to investigate 6 survey points. Enemies are numerous and some are positioned behind enemy lines, making direct surveying difficult. Defeating enemies is not strictly required but can simplify the mission. Be mindful of the "Targeting Distant Units" law. There is a Magick Cannon that can be used against enemies.

  2. 2
Mission E2-09 ~ The Finest Blade

Objective: Defeat the Blade Biter (a Toughskin monster) in The Neslowe Passage.

Enemy Composition: Hoppy Bunny (x1), Rocktitans (x2), Pit Beasts (x2), and the Mark: Toughskin (Blade Biter).

Recommended Units: Units that can deal with the specific enemy types. The law forbids Bludgeoning Weapons.

Strategy: Focus on defeating the Blade Biter. Other enemies are present but secondary to the Mark. The Toughskin is a rare beast known for its hard hide.

Tips
  • For Survey No. 261, prioritize speed if you wish to avoid combat, using units with high movement to reach survey points quickly.
  • For The Finest Blade, ensure your party can effectively damage the Toughskin and is not reliant on bludgeoning weapons due to the mission law.
  • Loot from animals in Survey No. 261 is valuable, but they respawn, making them a potentially endless, though unrewarding, combat encounter if not strategically approached.
  • Survey No. 261: 15250 Gil, Scarletite X 1.
  • The Finest Blade: 7740 Gil, Prime Tanned Hide X 1.
