Explore Fairline Hill Estates and Big John's Salvage in fallout 4. Find Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor and a Railway Rifle.
Walkthrough
- 1As you approach Fairline Hill Estates, be aware of Stunted Yao Gaui near the playground.
- 2Clear the area of wildlife.
- 3Explore the houses counter-clockwise, starting from the west/northwest house.
- 4To enter the west house, climb a ramp made of wood and cars, as the outside door is locked. Inside, defeat two Ghouls. Loot the Steamer Trunk and ammo box upstairs. Disarm two gun traps downstairs and unlock chains for easier access. Check the kitchen for a First Aid Box.
- 5Search the second house for another First Aid Box.
- 6In the third house, check the “laundry room” for an open safe.
- 7In the fourth house, head upstairs to find another First Aid Box.
- 8In the fifth house, find a chem station and a [Novice] locked Toolbox. Upstairs, search the floor for an open safe.
- 9Head east, slightly north-east, to Relay Tower 0SC-527.
- 10Use the terminal to extend the range of your radio. You may encounter Mole Rats.
- 11After extending the tower, you should pick up the “Distress Signal” (which does nothing for now), the “Miller Family Radio Signal”, and the “Super Mutant Radio Broadcast” (which leads back to Shaw High School).
- 12Head north-east towards the car icon and save your game before reaching “Big John’s Salvage”.
- 13At Big John’s Salvage, Super Mutants have taken over from Raiders. Use sneak attacks to start the fight. The boss, likely a Super Mutant with a Minigun, is at the top of the tall structure in the middle.
- 14Use scrap and cars for cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects). Focus on one enemy at a time. Beware of mutated mongrels that will rush you.
- 15Clear out the scrapyard.
- 16Walk around the giant structure in the middle to find the path upwards. Grab the ammo crate and First Aid Box on the way up.
- 17At the very top of the structure, find a Steamer Trunk, a pair of “Super Mutant Armguards“, and the skill magazine **Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor**.
- 18Locate the pit area near the giant structure. Kill the trapped hound from above. Find a First Aid Box above the pit.
- 19Head south-east around some boxcars to find two buildings (one brick, one wood).
- 20On the wall of the smaller, wooden structure, between the two buildings, find a circuit breaker and turn it on. This is part of the “Miller Family Radio Signal” instructions.
- 21Follow the power wires to a tipped train car. Use the leaning fridge to get on top, then drop into the car through the hatch.
- 22Inside the shelter, you will find Big John’s deceased family. Search for “Big John’s Safe Key” and a “Railway Rifle”.
- 23Head back to the circuit breaker building, which was Big John’s Hardware Store. Behind the counter, find an [Advanced] locked Safe and a [Novice] locked door. Pick both locks.
- 24Head upstairs in the hardware store to find a [Novice] locked toolbox, a Duffel Bag, and ammo crates.
- 25Press the button on the wooden walkway nearby to open the front scrap gate.
- 26Search the nearby house (John’s house). Upstairs, find “John Miller’s Terminal”. It hints at the shelter location.
- 27Use the “Big John’s Safe Key” to open the [Master] locked safe upstairs in John’s house.
- 28Head east towards the Army Star landmark. Note the Red Rocket gas station to the north-east may have a random encounter.
- 29Head south-east to the next landmark, the “South Boston Military Checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death)”.
