Follow this Fallout 4 guide to power up the Institute's reactor, solve the radio part puzzle, and navigate the directors' meeting.
Alright, let's get this reactor humming! First things first, we need to grab some radio parts. Head over to the Diamond City Radio building in the outfield. Don't worry too much about Travis; he's just doing his thing. Look under the radio equipment near the door – you'll find a 'Radio Parts Crate'. Open it up to get three crucial parts.
Now, this is a bit of a puzzle. You need to put these parts into the equipment in front of you, filling the missing panels on the left, center, and right. The game doesn't exactly spell it out, but if you get it right, the middle lights will glow. It's a bit of a guessing game, but lucky for you, I've got the solution:
- Left: Radio Thing With Buttons
- Center: Radio Thing With Dials
- Right: Radio Thing With Tubes
Once those are in place, it's time to head back to The Institute. Forget Father's place for now; we're going straight to Advanced Systems. It's reactor time! Make your way through the area, grabbing any loot you fancy along the way, until you reach the reactor room. Go down the path to the reactor itself. Father will be there to thank you, and then he'll go off to chat with the directors. Your job is to put the Beryllium Agitator into the reactor. After that, find the terminal just outside the room and select 'Initiate Reactor Startup Sequence'. Boom! Nuclear power for the Institute.
Father will then ask you to attend the next directorate meeting in his stead. Head back to the main Institute area, outside of Advanced Systems. The directors are still milling about, so find a seat in the lobby and chill for a few hours until they catch up. Once they're ready, head up to the meeting room and take your spot in the director's seat. Hehehe…
This meeting is pretty much a formality; you don't have much say in the outcome. Start by talking to Dr. Filmore, who's to your right. You'll soon be told that the Institute has 'already decided' its path. You'll get to choose between focusing on Weapon Development or Enhanced Synth Production, but ultimately, the Institute's direction is set. Once the meeting wraps up, the quest 'Powering Up' is complete, and the next quest, “End of the Line”, will kick off shortly after.
