Follow this Fallout 4 walkthrough for the 'Airship Down' quest. Learn how to infiltrate Boston Airport, destroy generators, and defeat Elder Maxson to secure Liberty Prime.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
You begin in a warehouse northeast of Boston Airport. Your first objective is to destroy three generators.
  2. 2
Locate and eliminate the Brotherhood patrol to your left.
  3. 3
Head towards the Airport, noting the heavy defenses: Machine Gun Turrets, Knights and Knight Commanders in Power Armor, and Scribes/Initiates with Missile Launchers on ramparts.
  4. 4
You can assault directly or use the airplane husks for cover. Alternatively, enter the warehouse on the left.
  5. 5
Inside the warehouse, stealthily eliminate the scattered scribes and soldiers, including Proctor Quinlan, who drops “Quinlan’s Outfit”.
  6. 6
Find and pick the two Master-locked doors. One leads to a Steamer Trunk and other loot, the second to the beachfront.
  7. 7
From the warehouse entrance, head right to find stairs leading up.
  8. 8
On the upper level, a Vertibird will take off when spotted. Attempt to disable its engine with a sneak attack and destroy it using VATS. Its explosion will damage nearby enemies.
  9. 9
The first generator is located east, behind the Vertibird. Destroying it will summon Synth allies.
  10. 10
The second generator is to the west, more heavily guarded. Destroy it after dealing with the eastern generator and Brotherhood enemies. This path also leads to a hallway overlooking Liberty Prime and Proctor Teagan, who drops “Teagan’s Outfit”.
  11. 11
The third generator is in the aircraft controller tower. Before ascending, pick the Expert-locked security door to the north to access an airplane walkway, ideal for sniping northern security forces.
  12. 12
Head south from the walkway, down a hallway guarded by a Knight. Take him out and use the elevator to reach the control tower.
  13. 13
In the tower, eliminate the patrolling Protectron and the turrets. Destroy the third generator and return down the elevator.
  14. 14
You will see the "Synth Virus" ally near the elevator. Escort this Synth to the top of the Liberty Prime platform.
  15. 15
Defeat Proctor Ingram and any other Brotherhood members protecting the platform.
  16. 16
Once at the top, the Synth Virus will begin infecting Liberty Prime. You must defend it for several minutes.
  17. 17
Brotherhood forces will attack from the lower western and eastern entrances, and the hallway below. Use the top platform for cover and manage your health.
  18. 18
A Vertibird will appear; destroy its engines quickly using VATS.
  19. 19
Near the end, Scribe Haylen will emerge from the hallway to stop the Synth Virus, and Elder Maxson will arrive in a second Vertibird.
  20. 20
Destroy Maxson's Vertibird, then defeat him. Loot his body for “Maxson’s Battlecoat” and the legendary weapon “Final Judgement”.
  21. 21
Once the virus upload is complete, Liberty Prime will identify the Airship as a threat and destroy it with its eye lasers. You will be warped to safety.
  22. 22
This completes the quest “Airship Down”, granting XP. The next Institute quest, “Nuclear Family”, will begin shortly after.
