How to Avoid Lightning

Hey there! So, you've probably noticed that Hyrule can get a bit... electrifying during storms. If you're finding yourself constantly getting struck by lightning in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it's almost always because you're wearing or holding metal gear. That includes your weapons, shields, and even some armor pieces.

You'll know lightning is about to strike because electricity will start to gather around Link, and you'll probably see some lightning hitting the ground nearby. When this happens, don't panic! The best thing to do is to quickly open your inventory. From there, unequip any metal items you have on. If you're still accumulating electricity after closing the menu, just open it up again and try removing more items. Be aware that some armor, like the Zora armor, can actually attract lightning, so keep an eye on that!

But hey, lightning storms aren't always a bad thing! You can actually use them to your advantage. If you're in a storm and there are enemies around, try this: find a metal weapon, throw it on the ground near a group of enemies, and then stand back. Lightning will often strike the metal weapon, and if it doesn't take out the enemies directly, the fire that follows the strike usually will!
