Crossing The Cold Pool

Struggling to cross the frozen lake in Tears of the Kingdom? Learn how to use Ice Fruit arrows to create a path and help Verla in this quick guide.

Alright, so you've left the lodge and you're heading up the mountain in Tears of the Kingdom. You'll soon run into a Rito named Verla. He's got a bit of a problem: he needs ten Chillshrooms from a cave, but his wing is injured, and the lake is way too cold for him to cross.

He'll point you towards the cave. Grab the Ice Fruit that's sitting right there to your right – you'll need it. Head into the cave; you'll find the first few Chillshrooms pretty much as soon as you enter.

Now, the tricky part: getting across the lake to where the rest of the Chillshrooms are. You'll see a raft waiting for you. Here's the trick: equip your bow and fuse some of those Ice Fruit you just picked up to your arrows. When these special arrows hit the water, they'll freeze it, creating a temporary ice bridge. Just shoot a few across to make a path so you can reach the raft and the rest of the goodies.

Once you've gathered all the Chillshrooms on the other side, just head back across your ice bridge. Talk to Verla, and he'll give you a Purple Rupee for your help. Easy peasy!
