Eldin’s Colossal Fossil Walkthrough

Need help finding Eldin's Colossal Fossil's missing eye in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Follow our guide to locate Loone and complete this side quest!

Alright, so you've stumbled upon a bit of a mystery involving Eldin's Colossal Fossil, and it turns out a character named Loone needs your help! Don't let the name fool you, you won't find her chilling by Death Mountain. Instead, you'll need to head east to the Akkala region. Look for her standing near the entrance of the East Akkala Stable. Chat with her, and she'll kick off the Eldin's Colossal Fossil quest for you.

This quest is going to take you to one of the northernmost parts of the map. The fossil itself is located near the Mayak Shrine, in an area called the Eldin Great Skeleton. If you've already unlocked the Mayak Shrine, that's your golden ticket for a quick trip over there. The fossil is absolutely massive, so you really can't miss it – it's super obvious from a distance, so getting lost shouldn't be an issue.

Once you arrive at the Eldin Great Skeleton, you'll find Loone hanging out near the fossil's head. She'll let you know that one of its eyes is missing. Your next move is to head inside the fossil's head. You'll see a big pile of rocks in there. Grab some Bomb Flowers and use them to clear out that pile, freeing the fossilized eye. After that, whip out your Ultrahand ability. Grab the eye and carefully maneuver it over to the empty socket on the fossil's head. Get it into place, and a cutscene should play, showing it locking back in!

With the eye back in place, head back and chat with Loone. She'll notice you've fixed the fossil and reward you with a Purple Rupee for your efforts. She'll then invite you to join her to visit Herba, which officially starts the next quest in this little chain: Hebra's Colossal Fossil. So, you're already on your way to the next big fossil hunt!
