What is Synergy?

Basically, Synergy is a super-advanced AI computer and hologram projector. Think of her as the brainchild of Emmett Benton, Jerrica and Kimber's dad. His whole goal was to create the ultimate audio/visual entertainment synthesizer. She was voiced by the talented Marlene Aragon.

Her Origin Story

Emmett Benton started working on Synergy about four months after his wife, Jacqui Benton, passed away. He wanted to create something that could link music and 3D images in a way no one had ever seen before. He used Jacqui's music and even her likeness to program Synergy's voice and personality, but he decided to give Synergy her own unique look and persona, so she wouldn't be a direct copy of his late wife.

Emmett kept Synergy a secret at first, planning to patent the tech. But when she was finished, he realized how powerful and potentially dangerous she could be. He decided not to patent her, fearing she might fall into the wrong hands. When he got sick, he set Synergy up to be a friend, a sort of surrogate mom, and a guide for his daughters, Jerrica and Kimber. He even programmed her to reveal herself to Jerrica if he couldn't give her the Jemstar Earrings in person.

Things got tough for Jerrica, Kimber, and their foster sisters when Starlight Music stopped funding the Starlight House. They had to find money themselves. That's when they found out about Synergy! They formed Jem and The Holograms and entered a music contest run by Eric Raymond. Jerrica had to become Jem because Eric was out to get her, and Jerrica herself just didn't have that front-girl look.

Synergy is a big secret that Jerrica and The Holograms keep from everyone. At first, she was hidden away in a secret room at the Starlight Drive-in. Later, she was moved to the Starlight Mansion, tucked away in a secret room behind a holographic wall. Pretty cool, right?

Synergy's Personality

Emmett really designed Synergy to be a mentor and a mother figure to Jerrica and Kimber. As you'll find out, she was programmed with the personality, appearance, and voice based on Emmett's late wife, Jacqui Benton. But remember, Emmett gave Synergy her own distinct image and persona.

This AI is seriously impressive. She can generate realistic holographic images – up to six hundred per minute without any power drop! That's way ahead of anything even government folks had seen. She projects these amazing holographic images and sounds using small, remote projectors, usually in the form of those iconic Jemstar Earrings. Sometimes, she even appears as a holographic avatar right out of the computer!

Synergy is super wise and always helps The Holograms out of tough spots. While she usually follows orders, she's definitely capable of thinking and acting on her own. There are times she's taken the lead, like when she offered Jerrica advice about Rio by acting like an oracle because Jerrica wasn't listening. And in "The Presidential Dilemma," Synergy just showed up in front of Jerrica and the President, saying it was the best news she'd had all week and sharing a laugh with them!
