Walkthrough

    From the Stranded Graveyard, head northwest to the Church of Elleh, then northeast to the Gatefront Ruins. Rest at the Gatefront Site of Grace to meet Melina and receive the Spectral Steed Whistle.

    Summon Torrent and follow the road southeast. Cross a bridge, and at a fork, turn north, following the trail northeast to the Third Church of Marika. You can evade enemies like Kaiden Sellswords and a Troll-drawn carriage convoy by keeping your distance. Ignore Kenneth Haight's call. Ride past the Troll outside the church.

    Rest at the Third Church of Marika Site of Grace. Exit the church's west doorway, turn north, and follow a river east until you reach a cliff face. Find a teleporter hidden in foliage along the cliffs. Interact with it to reach the Bestial Sanctum. Enter the building to the northwest to find the Bestial Sanctum Site of Grace. Avoid Gurranq and the Black Blade Kindred boss.

    Exit the Bestial Sanctum and turn left (northeast), dropping off the porch. Work your way east past ruins, then downhill to the southeast.

    You will find Vulgar Militiamen wandering in this area. They are small, dark-clad humanoids. Sneak up on them for a backstab, as their attacks can inflict 400+ damage and blood loss. A backstab followed by several normal attacks should defeat them at lower levels.
Tips
  • Each Vulgar Militiaman kill nets you around 1,000 Runes.
  • Explore southeast from the Bestial Sanctum to find about half a dozen Vulgar Militiamen.
  • The Vulgar Militiamen on the northern/eastern side of the road connecting the Bestial Sanctum and the Farum Greatbridge to the south generally do not aggro each other, allowing for safe farming if you initiate with a backstab.
  • Be aware of the Vulgar Militiamen's spell that shoots blades along the ground, which can be hard to dodge if not prepared.
