Farm 100,000 runes in minutes at Moghwyn Palace in elden ring. Learn how to reach the Palace and defeat the Albinaurics and Giant Crow.

While killing Vulgar Militiamen outside the Bestial Sanctum yields around 1000 Runes per kill, this becomes insufficient for leveling up later in elden ring. Fortunately, a more lucrative farming location exists, though it requires significant game progression to access and features dangerous enemies.

How to Reach Moghwyn Palace

There are two primary methods to reach Moghwyn Palace. The fastest route involves completing White-Faced Varre’s questline until he grants you the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, which allows direct teleportation to Moghwyn Palace. This still requires travel through Liurnia but is considerably quicker than the alternative.

The alternative route is much longer and demands substantial game progress:

  • Defeat at least two Shardbearers (e.g., Godrick the Grafted, Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, or Starscourge Radahn) to claim their Great Runes.
  • Reach the Altus Plateau. This can be achieved by traversing the Ruin-Strewn Precipice and defeating Magma Wyrm Makar, by collecting both halves of the Dectus Medallion and using the Grand Lift of Dectus, or by traveling on foot from Volcano Manor (potentially after being transported there by an Abductor Virgin in Raya Lucaria Academy).
  • Defeat the Draconic Tree Sentinel guarding the eastern entrance to Leyndell, Royal Capital.
  • Navigate through Leyndell, Royal Capital and defeat Godfrey, First Elden Lord and Morgott, the Omen-King.
  • Rest at a Site of Grace and speak with Melina to receive the Rold Medallion. Use this medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold (northeast of Leyndell, Royal Capital) to access the Mountaintops of the Giants.
  • Obtain the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) from Castle Sol in the northern Mountaintops of the Giants after defeating Commander Niall. Find the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) in the Village of the Albinaurics, dropped by an enemy disguised as a pot.
  • Return to the Grand Lift of Rold and select the option to _“Hoist secret medallion”_.
  • Travel through the Hidden Path to the Haligtree dungeon to reach the Consecrated Snowfield.
  • Locate a wayportal northwest of the Yelough Anix Ruins, situated along the southwestern edge of the Consecrated Snowfield. You must defeat a Sanguine Noble invader to access this portal.

Upon entering the wayportal, you will arrive at Moghwyn's Palace. While this route is lengthy, completing it ensures you are likely powerful enough to farm the enemies effectively.

How to Farm Moghwyn’s Palace

Once you reach Moghwyn’s Palace, proceed to the southeastern area to find the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace. This Site of Grace is adjacent to an excellent farming spot.

From the Site of Grace, head northeast to find a group of Albinaurics. There are four alert, red-skinned Albinaurics that attack with a rolling dash and spike expulsion, capable of dealing over 1,000 damage. The majority are gray-skinned Albinaurics that are initially asleep and harmless. Each Albinauric is worth over 2,000 Runes, or closer to 2,500 Runes with the Gold Scarab talisman equipped. Clearing this group yields nearly 40,000 Runes and can be done quickly by strong characters.

For additional Runes, look west off the cliffs below the Site of Grace. You will see a Giant Crow. Using a ranged weapon or a long-reaching spell like Rock Sling or Loretta’s Greatbow, you can provoke the crow. The crow will then often fall off the cliff, granting you over 10,000 Runes.

Tips
  • Equipping the Gold Scarab talisman increases Rune acquisition by 20%.
  • The red-skinned Albinaurics' rolling dash attack can be dodged by rolling into it, utilizing invincibility frames (iframes).
  • The sheer number of sleeping gray Albinaurics can make targeting difficult; focus on the red-skinned ones first.
  • Ranged attacks or spells are necessary to provoke the Giant Crow from a distance.

Approximately 40,000 Runes from the Albinaurics, plus over 10,000 Runes from the Giant Crow, for a total of nearly 50,000 Runes per farming run, which can be repeated quickly.
