Before diving into the individual spells, let's cover how to maximize your sorcery effectiveness in Elden Ring. A well-equipped character is crucial for any spellcaster.

Intelligence

Investing points into Intelligence is paramount, as it directly increases your spell damage. Aim for 20+ Intelligence, with 40+ being a solid benchmark for aspiring sorcerers. The effective cap for spell damage is 80 Intelligence. Beyond damage, Intelligence is also a prerequisite for certain spells, such as Comet Azur (requiring 60 Intelligence), though many effective sorceries have much lower requirements.

Staves

A staff is essential for casting sorceries. While the Astrologer and Prisoner classes start with one, others will need to acquire one. The Meteorite Staff is highly recommended, even for starting classes, due to its innate S-rank Intelligence scaling. Talismans offer various benefits, including increased magic damage and reduced casting times. Neglecting them means missing out on significant damage potential. Key talismans include:
