Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood in elden ring. Learn his location via Pureblood Knight's Medal or Consecrated Snowfield waygate and his attack patterns.
There are two primary methods to reach Mohg, Lord of Blood. The first allows an earlier encounter but at a significant level disadvantage, while the second is recommended for later in the game when you are better equipped.
Methods to Reach Mohg, Lord of Blood:
- Method 1 - Pureblood Knight’s Medal: Complete White-Faced Varré’s questline to receive the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. Using this item transports you to Mohgwyn Palace, placing you near the Dynasty Mausoleum.
- Method 2 - Consecrated Snowfield: Access Mohgwyn Palace via a waygate northwest of the Yelough Anix Ruins in the Consecrated Snowfield. Teleport to the Ordina, Liturgical Town site of Grace and head southwest. The waygate is on a lower platform west of the spires. This waygate is inactive until you defeat a nearby NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) invader.
Once in the Mohgwyn Palace area, navigate using your steed to avoid impassable mountains. If you arrive via Method 1, you'll start at the Dynasty Mausoleum and be dismounted. From the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance site of Grace (located southeast, up the stairs), follow the linear path upwards, defeating or avoiding enemies. You will encounter a strong NPC enemy that deals Bleed damage; only fight it if you can negate bleed, otherwise, run past. This NPC will respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) and chase you. To the left of this NPC is an Isolated Merchant selling Stanching Boluses. Continue right, then up. Left at the next intersection leads to a smithing stone, while right is the correct path towards Mohg. Follow the path up the stairs to the south and use the elevator to the west to reach the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint site of Grace, the last one before Mohg.
Mohg, Lord of Blood Attacks:
| Attack | Description | How to Avoid |
| Trident Combo | A 2-3 hit combo of horizontal swipes, sometimes ending with an overhead slam. | Roll through each swing, aiming for his back. Roll away from the overhead slam for a larger attack window. |
| Explosive Trident | Mohg plunges his trident into the ground, causing an explosion after it glows. | Run or roll away immediately upon seeing him plunge the trident. The area of effect is large. |
| Bloodflame Talons | Mohg swipes across the arena, creating exploding clawmarks. This can be followed by a lunge or Trident Combo. | Run or roll away. Be cautious of follow-up attacks. |
| Bloodtax | A thrust attack with his bloodflame-covered trident that deals moderate damage and inflicts bleed build-up. | Roll to either side to avoid this thrust attack. |
| Bloodboon | Mohg unleashes bloodflame in three variations: a wide arc, a shower, or a narrow cone. | Roll through the wide arc. Roll to the side for the cone. The shower occurs when you are close to Mohg; get behind him for attacks before rolling away. |
| Bloodboon Ritual | Mohg places red rings around you three times at specific health thresholds (~40-45%, 25-30%, 10%). He counts down Tres, Duo, Unnus (3, 2, 1). This sets up his Nihil attack during the phase change. | There is no way to avoid this specific countdown, but it does not deal damage directly. |
- Use your steed to navigate the Mohgwyn Palace area more easily.
- Stanching Boluses, sold by the Isolated Merchant near the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance, are useful against Mohg's Bleed damage.
- Be prepared for Mohg's Bloodboon Ritual, which occurs at specific health thresholds and leads into his Nihil attack.
- Focus on dodging and finding openings after his combos rather than aggressive attacking.
