Learn about Emetic and Sedative poisons in Hitman World of Assassination, including availability and effects. Find expired spaghetti sauce and more.
Explosive devices, like the ICA Remote Explosive, can eliminate targets but often result in losing Silent Assassin (a score awarded for completing missions undetected and without killing non-targets) due to their suspicious nature, unless the body is hidden. Sabotaging Gas Canisters or shooting Propane Flasks from a distance can create accidental explosions that do not penalize Silent Assassin, even in crowded areas. This also applies to explosion stuns; if a stunned body is found, it will not affect your Silent Assassin rating if the explosion was accidental.
Poisons offer a way to deal with targets by making them sick or unconscious. The effectiveness and suspicion generated by using poisons can depend on your current Disguise (an outfit that changes how NPCs react to you).
There are three types of poisons:
Emetic
- This poison makes a victim feel sick and head to a restroom or trash can to vomit, providing a window to subdue or kill them safely. The effect is temporary.
- Emetic Rat Poison: A common poison found on most missions, designed for vermin and only makes humans sick.
- Expired Can of Spaghetti Sauce: Available in Sapienza, Santa Fortuna, Mumbai, and Isle of Sgail. It can be used as a melee weapon or as an emetic poison when added to food.
- Emetic Poison Vial / Emetic Pills: Available from completing the [Mission Stories - Marrakesh] Challenge (Vial), Santa Fortuna Mastery Level 7 (Pills), and found in Whittleton Creek. This is a non-lethal, single-dose poison that causes sickness.
- Modern Emetic Syringe: Available from Sapienza Mastery Level 20 (Antique), Bangkok Mastery Level 10 (Modern), Mumbai Mastery Level 13 (Modern Mk II Version), and found in Haven Island. This syringe contains a non-lethal emetic poison for injection.
- Poisonous Flower (Emetic): Available in Santa Fortuna and Haven Island. When used with food, it makes a person sick.
Sedative
- This poison safely knocks out a person upon ingestion or injection. If the body is found, it will not result in a loss of Silent Assassin, even if the victim is unclothed. Guards can also awaken a victim.
- Sedative Poison Vial / Sedative Pills: Available from Paris Mastery Level 2 (Vial) and Santa Fortuna Mastery Level 2 (Pills). This is a non-lethal, single-dose poison that causes unconsciousness. The victim being seen keeling over will not affect Silent Assassin.
- Modern Sedative Syringe: Available from completing the [Master Vampire (Magician)] Challenge (Paris). This syringe contains a sedative that knocks out a person upon injection. It can only be used as a melee weapon from behind and cannot be used on food or drink.
- Insecticide: Available in Bangkok, Whittleton Creek, and New York. While designed for bugs, it is non-lethal to humans and causes unconsciousness. It is mainly used with air conditioning systems.
- Using poisons on food or drink requires careful timing and awareness of your Disguise to avoid suspicion.
- Accidental explosions from environmental hazards like Gas Canisters or Propane Flasks are excellent ways to eliminate targets without penalty to your Silent Assassin rating.
- Sedative poisons are ideal when you need to incapacitate a target temporarily without raising suspicion if their body is discovered.
