Learn about the Hitman World of Assassination Legacy DLC, its cost (USD $20), inclusions, and advantages for new and returning players.

The Legacy DLC for Hitman World of Assassination (formerly Hitman 2) was released to include the entire Season One story campaign. For players who purchased the Season One Game of the Year add-on or the full GOTY version, this DLC is free. For others, the add-on costs approximately USD $20 and contains about 95% of the Season One content, including the Main Story, all four Bonus Missions, the Patient Zero campaign, and all Challenge Packs. Excluded from the Legacy DLC are 37 Escalation Contracts and the Sarajevo Six missions, which were a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Playing the Legacy DLC before the main Hitman World of Assassination content offers several advantages. New players can experience the story from the beginning, with the ICA Facility serving as a tutorial area to learn game mechanics (like the minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen), radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked), HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap), cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects), headshot (a shot that lands on the enemy's head, usually an instant kill), cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically), checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death), wanted level (the star icons in the top-right showing how aggressively police pursue you), NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you), respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death), waypoint (a marker on your map you've manually placed as a destination), free roam (the open-world mode where you move and play without an active mission)). Returning players can observe changes in mechanics on familiar missions across different difficulties and utilize the Briefcase. A significant benefit is that all weapons and items unlocked through the Legacy DLC carry over to the Hitman World of Assassination campaign. For instance, the Silverballer can be earned in the Paris chapter of Legacy and used in the first three Hitman World of Assassination chapters, whereas in Hitman World of Assassination, it's unlocked later. The Krugermeier 2-2 (a silenced pistol) and Sieger 300 Ghost (a sniper rifle) are exclusive to the Legacy DLC and not available in the Hitman World of Assassination story.

To maximize your experience, it is recommended to acquire the Legacy DLC and start with the ICA Facility, progressing through to the final chapter. This approach allows you to unlock powerful weapons and items before starting the first chapter of the Hitman World of Assassination story, 'Nightcall'. This guide will follow this order, starting from the ICA Facility and moving forward, meaning some Challenges in the early Hitman World of Assassination chapters might utilize items and weapons unlocked via Legacy.

It is important to note that in Hitman World of Assassination, the first chapter of Hitman 2, 'Nightcall', serves as the seventh chapter in the overall story progression.

Legacy DLC Differences:

• In Hitman World of Assassination, difficulty-tiered Challenges have been removed. Each chapter now has a single set of Challenges that can be completed on any difficulty, including Casual.
• The 'No Evidence' Challenge has been removed from The Classics list.
• Most Trophies and Achievements have been removed, with only two remaining per chapter: one for completion and one for reaching Mastery Level 5 or 20. If unlocked in Hitman 2, these will auto-unlock in Hitman World of Assassination after transfer and purchasing the Legacy Chapters.
• Multiplayer for Sniper Assassin maps has been removed; Hitman World of Assassination is strictly single-player.
• The 'Slam Dunk' Challenge has been removed.
