Learn how to find, carry, and sell various types of treasure in Sea of Thieves. Discover different treasure types, their locations, and how they contribute to your Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value.
Walkthrough
- 1Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found randomly on islands, within shipwrecks, floating in barrels, or as rewards from voyages and encounters like forts and skeleton ships. Look for a colored glint or glow to spot treasure from a distance.
- 2Carrying Treasure: Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative. While carrying treasure, you cannot fight or use equipment. You can retrieve treasure from afar with a harpoon. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests (up to 3 items) to hide their glow and make transport easier.
- 3Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company values specific types of treasure. Deliver the correct treasure to the representative at an Outpost to receive Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value (if you are an Emissary for that company).
- 4Treasure Types: Treasures are categorized by the Trading Company they belong to (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance). Within these, they can be Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, or Ghostly variants.
- 5Gold Hoarder Treasure: This includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (which emit a Golden Glint). These are sold to the Gold Hoarders.
Tips
- Treasure items dropped in water will sink after about 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates.
- Picking up treasure relevant to your Trading Company Emissary status grants Emissary Grade Reputation.
- Container Chests can hold up to 3 small treasure items, making delivery more efficient.
