Explore the diverse world of Treasure in Sea of Thieves. Learn about different treasure types, how to find them, and how to sell them to Trading Companies for Gold and Reputation.

Treasures are transportable items in Sea of Thieves that can be found, carried, and sold to Trading Companies. Selling treasure yields Currencies, Reputation, and Emissary Value.

Treasure is the primary source of Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value in Sea of Thieves. Each Trading Company has Representatives at every Outpost who accept specific types of Treasure for rewards. Voyages are quests offered by these Representatives that lead to treasure items. Random treasure can also be found on islands, in shipwrecks, floating in the sea, or taken by enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, or the Kraken. All treasure items emit a colored glint or glow for easy spotting.

To sell treasure, it must be carried by hand to the respective Company Representative. A pirate can only carry one treasure item at a time and cannot use equipment or resources while doing so. Treasure can be retrieved with a Harpoon. Smaller items can be stored in Container Chests, which hold up to three items and can hide their glow, glint, or sound. Treasure left on land remains, but treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates. As Trading Company Emissaries, picking up relevant treasure grants Emissary Grade Reputation, with additional increases for placing it on the ship.

Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that purchases them. The three main companies are the Gold Hoarders, the Order of Souls, and the Merchant Alliance. Within these, treasure can be further classified as Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants based on their origin.

Gold Hoarders Treasure includes Treasure Chests and Artefacts. Treasure Chests are locked and sold to the Gold Hoarders, who have the keys. They can be found via Treasure Maps, Riddle Maps, Ancient Vaults, or randomly. They emit a white glint. Types include Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen (found in The Devil's Roar, sell for double), Valuable, and Cursed Treasure Chests. Artefacts are smaller items found on their own, in chests, or in Fortress Vaults, emitting a golden glint. They are categorized into Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, and Skeletal variants.
