Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found scattered across islands, floating in shipwrecks, within barrels, or obtained from completing voyages, defeating enemies (like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken), or solving riddles and puzzles. Treasure items emit a distinct colored glint, making them visible from a distance.

Carrying Treasure: A pirate can only carry one treasure item at a time. While carrying treasure, you cannot use weapons, equipment, or resource items. You must drop the treasure to regain full control. Smaller treasure items can be stored in Container Chests, which can hold up to three items and hide their glow. Harpoons can also be used to retrieve treasure from afar.

Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance) has representatives at Outposts who will buy specific types of treasure. Selling treasure to the relevant company grants Gold, Reputation, and Emissary Value (if sailing as an Emissary).

Treasure Types: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company they are sold to. Within the main companies, treasures can have Regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.

Gold Hoarder Treasure: Primarily Treasure Chests and Artefacts. Chests come in various forms like Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, and Cursed. Artefacts include trinkets and ornaments. All emit a white glint (Chests) or golden glint (Artefacts).

Order of Souls Treasure: Primarily Bounty Skulls and Voodoo Dolls. These are obtained by defeating Skeleton Captains and other spectral foes. They emit a purple glint.

Merchant Alliance Treasure: Primarily Trade Goods (like Rum, Silk, Spices, Cannonballs, Wood) and Animals (Chickens, Pigs, Snakes). These are often found in barrels or obtained through specific Merchant voyages. They emit a green glint.

Emissary System: Sailing as a Trading Company Emissary increases the Reputation and Gold earned from selling relevant treasure. Picking up and delivering treasure while an Emissary also increases your Emissary Grade, unlocking further rewards and bonuses.
