The Adventures (Lore) — Sea of Thieves Walkthrough

Finding Treasure: Treasure can be found through Voyages, randomly on islands, in shipwrecks, floating in the sea, or obtained from defeating enemies like Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and the Kraken. Treasure items emit a distinct colored glint or glow, allowing players to spot them from a distance.

Types of Treasure: Treasure items are categorized by the Trading Company that desires them: Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance. Within these, they can be regular, Ashen, Stronghold, Skeletal, or Ghostly variants.

Gold Hoarder Treasure: This includes Treasure Chests (Regular, Shipwrecked, Coral, Ashen, Valuable, Cursed) and Artefacts (Trinkets, Containers, Ornaments). Treasure Chests emit a white glint, while Artefacts emit a golden glint.

Transporting Treasure: A pirate can carry one treasure item at a time, limiting their ability to fight or use equipment. Treasure must be carried by hand to a Trading Company representative. Smaller items can be placed in Container Chests to hide their glow and carry up to three items. Harpoons can also be used to retrieve treasure from afar. Treasure dropped in water sinks after about 5 minutes, except for Trade Good Crates.

Selling Treasure: Each Trading Company has representatives at Outposts who accept specific types of treasure for Gold, Doubloons, Reputation, and Emissary Value. Selling treasure relevant to your Emissary status grants increased rewards.
